The Whirlpool WP67004151 Refrigerator Defrost-Timer is a component used in Whirlpool refrigerators to manage the automatic defrost cycle. This cycle periodically turns off the compressor-and activates heating elements to eliminate frost accumulation in the freezer-compartment. Unchecked frost buildup can obstruct airflow and impair efficiency, potentially leading to damage in the cooling system. The defrost-timer operates mechanically with a revolving cam that completes a cycle approximately every 10 hours and 21 minutes. During the defrost-phase, the timer activates the defrost-heaters to melt the-ice that has, formed.
