The Whirlpool WP3349578 Washer Agitator creates mechanical movement inside the wash basket to move water and clothing during the wash cycle. It fits onto the central drive shaft at the bottom of the basket, where its internal connection transfers rotation from the drive system. As the shaft moves the agitator moves back and forth, producing water and fabric movement within the wash load. Its position allows the lower portion of the wash basket to receive the mechanical action generated by the drive assembly.
